Welcome to the liminal space between the physical and imaginary worlds we occupy....the world of the Telefusionist.
This simple website offer a small insight into parts of my creative life. The characters and themes of my stories are focused on co-creating a world full of promise and joy. A place driven by those with a curious playful mindset...stories of adventurers, inventors, builders, and activist.

‘The Children of the Starfish' is a series of stories that combines adventure in the style of Jules Verne and HG Wells with the lyrical whimsy of Dr Zeuss.

Alongside this series there are other titles currently in production
'The Grumpy Grub' - 'The Moth and the Moon' - 'The Book Tree' - 'The Garden'

You will also discover my portrait work which helps fund my commitment to children and the environmental projects.

As time allows I hope to build this site up as a resource that inspires deeper connection to the wonders of the natural world and all who occupy her. Here you will find access to the books, their back stories and a resource of activities based around the environment, exploration and invention. The website will eventually include profiles of both real and fictional explorers and inventors. We aim to encourage our readers to become part of our stories, submitting idea's, designs and their own inventions to the site.

‘The Children of the Starfish’ series was inspired by the events surrounding the Canterbury Earthquake and subsequent need to deal with natural disaster, re-gather, reinvent and rebuild a new City. From this came the theme to book 1 ‘Wobbly Town’.

What is Steampunk?

Emerging in the 1980’s this genre has become a popular theme in fashion, books and movies. Steampunk takes the style of the Victorian Era and emergence of the industrial age (the steam engine) and marries this to a love for retro science fiction i.e. Jules Verne/H.G. Wells.
The philosophy of Steampunk is that of DIY and Craftsmanship with a focus on the environment and sustainability. In writing these books we didn’t want to be restricted to any point in time. We want to encourage children to explore the past, present and future, ‘Imagination unlimited’. Finally it has to be fun, quirky while encouraging participation. To this readers will be encouraged to share their ideas and inventions. Activities are designed to fit the school curriculum by providing easy access to resources and activities.
